Hi there,

You have a tough issue on your hands here.

The DUAL nVidia 7950 GTX SLI is the faster setup based on pixel output... BUT, there is no real support for DirectX 10, or 4.0 shading.

The new Dual 512MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8700M GT - SLI Enabled is where the future is. Games will be requiring DirectX 10 sooner than you might think, or at least offering very much enhanced game play for the lucky ones who run DX10.

Problem: The 8700M has a 128bit memory bus. So you can't really take advantage of the high resolution DX10 games out there.

If you could, I would look at the Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX SLi. That would be the card to get if you could. All the best features, and a 256bit memory bus so you can actually use them.

Look at these three URLs and compare the benchmarks. See what you think:

DUAL nVidia 7950 GTX SLI:

512MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8700M GT - SLI Enabled:

Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX SLi:

... in the case of singe core benchmarks, just compare them with single core benchmarks for the other card.

If it were my call to make, I would go with the Nvidia GeForce 8800M GTX SLi hands down. Left with the other two choices, I would probably go for the 7950 GTX rig.

I am sorry for the delay on this answer.

DN.
