the haunting of conneticut okay so i know the house they used in the movie used to be a funeral home, and is that the house that it really took place in? or was it just used for filming?

yes, the family stayed alive. the story the movie was based off was actually on an episode of "a haunting" on discovery channel. so if you want to look it up and see what happened, look on their website. :) ]
This was filmed in Winnipeg, Canada, so the original house on 208 Meriden Avenue in Southington, CT was not used.
The actual house is still standing. Because of the new movie, there has been a lot of curious people drive by to look at the house. The family living there now has never seen anything unusual inside their five-bedroom, two-family white wood-frame house and does not believe the property was haunted. The house was "cleared" of the evil presence after a seance in 1988.
In the 2009 movie, the family's name has been changed to the Campbell's. The families real last name is Snedeker. The Snedeker family lived at the house for about two and a half years before they moved to another house in the area. They are still alive. ]
