How can I, a teen, make this money making operation work?
Question Posted Monday March 23 2009, 6:16 pm
hey, I'm a 15 year old girl btw. Trying to earn money for stuff. lol well duh.
1. Pick the ones that are good ideas to make money from.
2. Tell me how to present them in an advertisement for my neighborhood, and how to present my jewelry at school for girls to buy too. For the neighborhood, if there are other examples for that kind of thing, please show them. I really have no idea what to say in descriptions for stuff like that. I need major help.
For School:
- make necklaces & bracelets (where do i get material and instructions.. idk what people would want. like other examples)
For Neighborhood:
- yard work (excluding cutting bushes & mowing the lawn)
- tutor in algebra (from 5th-8th grade)
- photography (people tell me in good at it. nothing professional but
just like if people want something to be photographed and they dont
want to spend all their time doing it.)
- mother's helper (how do i describe that)
- pet sitting (only caged animals)
To advertise them, just wear some of the jewelry, & maybe have some of your friends wear some, too, & if people ask about it, they can point them in your direction. You can also try advertising online (like on your myspace or something like that).
As for the neighborhood thing, your best bet on that would probably be tutoring. Not trying to be rude here, but because of the fact that you have some exceptions when doing some stuff, like the yard work & pet sitting, people might not want to hire you. Especially since mowing the lawn is one of the main things people hire others to do, & not many people would hire some to pet sit a caged pet, it may make you come off as a little lazy or something.
For tutoring, for example, try making some fliers & putting them in people's mailboxes. Make sure to put your age, the fact that you want to tutor algebra for 5th to 8th graders only, maybe your gpa if you make good grades, some academic achievements, & possibly some references if you have any. Also, try advertising by word of mouth. Let one person know what you're interested in doing, & they'll likely pass it on to others. Good luck. [ Trauma's advice column | Ask Trauma A Question ]
