A rough patch is when you guys just dont get a long very well in the relationship for a while, or where you fight a lot, so its like everything goes good and then you hit a rough patch. Sorry its kind of hard to explain but i hope that makes sense =]

a 'rough patch' is a period of time where you fight a lot. basically you just don't get along for awhile.

usually a relationship is going pretty well and then you hit a 'rough patch'. it's something you usually get over and are able to move on to the better things in your relationship =)

a rough patch is like when you fight a lot. seems dont think to be turning out the way you planned. but it is just a patch a rough start that you can fix. dont get all worked up about it talk to your other about it. tell them you want to fix it. if that is what you want.

It is classically defined as when things start to "go wrong" and the couple is fighting or just generally having trouble resolving their differences in what was previously a rewarding relationship. other expressions equivalent to the "rough patch" are saying that a couple is "on the rocks" or my personal favorite, that there is "trouble in paradise". Signs of a rough patch include a couple's mutual irritability when together or one person's growing discontent with the other, i.e. not calling this person as often.
