Jail bait?
In my state, the legal age of consent is sixteen. So theoretically, if I was sixteen, could I legally have sex with someone who is 18? Or would that be statutory rape? Even if there's only a two year age difference, would having sex with an 'adult' be illegal?
So could I have sex with him or am I just jail bait?

If the age is 16 then you'll be ok, Its about the parents too though like your mom if she found out she might be able to press charges. But as long as you dont go back on saying that you consented to the sex u should be ok, But take it from me girl if u are a virgin right now you should wait try to wait a little longer I am not trying to be your mother or anything its just that I lost mine at a young age and always to this day wished that I had waited.....

If the Age of Consent is 16, then once you are sixteen, you may 'consent' to sexual activity with whomever you choose. It would only be if you are fifteen that having sex with an 18 year old might be a problem.
There are some exceptions. For instance, some places the age of consent in 18 IF the person you want to have sex with is over 21, or if they are in a position of power, like a teacher or a doctor, then it's illegal.

Dont take my word for it (do some research) but as far as it goes in my state, it is legal for a 16 year old to have sex with someone older than them by up to four years untill they are 18. So, a 16 year old could legally have sex with a twenty year old (though i really dont think thats a good idea) and an 18 year old could have sex with anyone.
Just dont rush into it. Make sure its something that you are both ready to do, and that you are prepared to face possible repercussions.
