Boe answered Tuesday February 10 2009, 7:09 am: back in the 70's, this is the tampon that was related to toxic shock syndrome. I don't know what they have done since then, I'm sure they changed something. The biggest thing to do anytime you use tampons is to change them frequently. Of course, it depends on how much flow you have, if it is heavey, you would change frequently anyway, but, if you were light, make sure you change more. Bacteria love warm, dark, and blood to grow. Just don't give them the chance. I used them my whole life, but be smart about it. You sound smart already, because you know to ask. Good luck and keep informed. Oh, the higher the absorbency, the higher the risk. Ob had a very high absorbency. Your best bet is to ask your GYN. [ Boe's advice column | Ask Boe A Question ]
