I'm naturally very fair skinned and don't really tan. If I'm out in the sun long, enough my shoulders and back will burn (like a lot of people). So I figure it's probably pretty pointless for me to try using a tanning bed, because I know they say "if you don't tan in the sun, you won't tan in here." But I've never really tried to get tan. Like, it doesn't happen easily, so I've never really tried that hard, or laid out for very long. So maybe if i was in the beds where it is so concentrated and stuff, I'd actually be able to get a little color? Is it easier in the concentrated beds than it is normally? I'm from Michigan, so that's part of why I don't get to try than much.

Get a fake tan. You can get spray on ones that you do yourself that are pretty cheap and dont look like you did it yourself.
Do your research if you are going to use a tanning bed. A lot of people where i'm from have contracted skin cancer from using them. [ xkatiex's advice column | Ask xkatiex A Question ]

If you tan now, you will only make deep craters and rivers and valleys in your damaged skin. You are more susceptable to skin cancer from uv rays. The tanning beds are worse than the real sun. Get more information before you decide to worry about a tan. Sure, it might look good while you have it, but, it is what I call an unnecessary evil. You don't need it, it is bad, no matter where you get it. We only need sun for 10 to 15 min. a day for vitamin D to be absorbed for healthy bones.
You don't mention why you want a tan, or how long. Someday, your skin type will be the most popular one. I didn't mean to step on your toes, I used to be a sunbum, even wore a tshirt that said it on it. I just know first hand about skin damage. It won't hurt you as long as you don't burn, and you don't do it all the time. But, it is really just damaged skin when you darken it. I just wanted you to learn about tanning beds, and the sun. The reason I told you to educate yourself, is so you can make an informed decision. Be your best friend. [ Boe's advice column | Ask Boe A Question ]

I would try it a few times if I were you , and see if you like it. If you end up going, make sure they help you pick out the bed, so you don't burn too much!
