I just watched Tuck Everlasting with my daughter the other night and wondered also where it was filmed, so I looked at the end credits and was shocked to see it was filmed in the county where I grew up! Harford County, Maryland. So I did a bit of google-ing and found out that the waterfall scene was shot at Kilgore Falls in the Falling Branch area of Rocks State Park. The tall rock formation that Winnie and Jesse climb and stand on top of is the "King and Queen Seat" - also part of Rocks State Park. I remember going there when I was kid. It's a really beautiful area.
The following is info. from the State of Maryland's Dept. of Natural Resources website:
Rocks State Park
3318 Rocks Chrome Hill Road
Jarrettsville, MD 21084
(410)557-7994
The park is located in northern Harford County about 30 miles north of Baltimore and 8 miles northwest of Bel Air on Route 24. From Baltimore, take I-95 north to Route 24 north exit. Continue north on Route 24 through Bel Air, Rock Spring, and Forest Hill. The Park is located approximately 5 miles north of Forest Hill.
The Falling Branch Area of Rocks State Park is a 67 acre parcel of land which is home to Kilgore Falls, a scenic and tranquil section of Falling Branch, a tributary of Deer Creek, which is tucked back into the ravines of Northern Harford County, creating Maryland's second highest vertical drop waterfall. This non-developed, environmentally sensitive area has a serene hiking trail leading back to the waterfall.
Falling Branch is located five miles north of Rocks. Continue north on Route 24, turn left on St. Mary's Road then right onto Falling Branch Road and proceed to parking area on the right. There are no picnic tables, grills or restrooms in the area.
King and Queen Seat - Soaring natural rock outcrops provide breathtaking views, as well as a challenge to the skilled climber. Once believed to be a ceremonial gathering place of the Susquehannock Indians, the King and Queen Seat soars above Deer Creek at a height of 190 feet. There are many vertical rock faces on the outcrop some of which are as high as 94 feet. Use caution in this area.
