I will be 37 weeks pregnant tomorrow. When I had a pap smear today I started bleeding. So my doctor told me to keep an eye on it and if its like a regular period call the doctors office. Well here it is about 8 hrs later and I'm having quite a bit of having brown bleeding. Should I call, go to the hospital or what? Thanks

You only need to worry if you are having bright red bleeding. I just had my 3rd baby in december. I had some bright red bleeding at 37 weeks, then my water broke and was full of blood. I had a placental abruption. Bright red bleeding can be that or placenta previa. Brown blood is just from small irritation, I would wait it out and call your doctor if it all of a sudden gets really really bad, or if you wait a day and its not going away. Just remember at this point your mucous plug can come out and that can cause bleeding also. [ Myrrha's advice column | Ask Myrrha A Question ]

However, do you really want to take a chance that something could possibly be wrong? My advice...go to the emergency room and get it checked. [ MotherDoe's advice column | Ask MotherDoe A Question ]
