I always get asked if I've had braces. I did, I had them for a few years in middle school. But I never feel the need to ask anyone if they've had braces. I mean, my teeth aren't THAT straight, because I don't wear my retainer anymore. But I'm starting to wonder if my teeth look different or something... why would they be asking me this?

Where I live there are two orthodontists, and its very evident if you've been to them. A great majority of patients from the orthodontists have the exact same results-the teeth end up looking just like everyone else's. Its weird to explain, but just the shape, the way they sand down the teeth after the braces come off, and things like that are very, very similar. It makes it clear they're have braces as opposed to the natural, not-always-perfect-looking teeth other people who haven't have braces have. So people often ask, "Have you had braces?" here because its easy to tell when you look at their mouths.

Actually, alot of people usually ask that question to people because their teeth look really good, so I definetly would not take that as a bad thing. Everytime I go to ask someone if they had braces, its because their teeth look really good :-)
If it bothers you alot, then you could just ask them (in a nice-conversational type way) yeah, why?
Good Luck, hope I helped :-) [ xosodapopx3's advice column | Ask xosodapopx3 A Question ]
