Also, there are many agents in Chicago who are excellent and they're harder to find or list because they don't advertise or solicit clients. They decide if you are worthy of being backed by them.
Each agent is different and specializes in certain areas. All of this depends on what you want to do modeling, acting, being an extra or principal work in film and TV. I'm telling you right now that a principal agent like half listed won't touch you as you don't have pro credits or solid amateur ones with respected non-profit theaters or graduated from a well known acting program.
What you need to do is check SAG and ACTRA for reputable agents that deal only with kids and teens. They'll get you work in productions that require kids. For a one time fee each year of about $100.00. They can only charge that amount each year because people bail very fast once they see that they're often going to 18 hour shoots.
Agents for teens/kids can charge a small fee for each year because kids and teens bail fast. NEVER pay for a portfolio, lessons or to have your photos posted on the Internet to be seen by key Hollywood people. The industry never works like that. It's a common SCAM.
Check out with ACTRA or SAG who among that list above is reputable and ask about others or who they hold in high regard or who has been reported. TAKE YOUR TIME. Don't rush into this as you need to make the right choice with your parents input. You can get screwed over otherwise as scammers know who is naive about the industry and they'll capitalize on that dream of yours.
