Question Posted Wednesday December 24 2008, 2:53 pm

Okay recap, I just got a new guinea pig 2 months old. ( my other one died of a respatory infection) and now the cage is made of wood that's just been varnished is it safe or not?

You should probably get a cage that has 'metal' bars, I'm not sure how else to explain it. I'm not sure wood is the best thing for a guinea pig to be living in. I used to have a guinea pug myself, and I had the kind of cage with skinny 'metal' bars, and it worked perfectly, so maybe you should try that out instead of wood? If the guinea pig somehow chews through the wood he/she could cut him/herself and that wouldn't be good.
Hope that helps... (:
