stopping it for a week I'm going to Florida next monday and I was wondering if I could prevent getting my period with the birth control I'm on. This week (until sunday) I'm taking my last set of hormone pills. Then I start the placebo pills all next week. Should I not take these pills or is there no way that I have a chance of it not coming? And if that doesn't work, is there anything else I can do to prevent it? Thanks, 17/f.

Honestly, your better off not messing with the pills. If you do, it could make things worse. You could end up with a longer one. ]
I don't really have experience with birth control at all, but could you just switch the weeks? Like, take the placebo pills this week and get your period over with so you'll be period-free the next week and take the hormone pills then. ]
If your sexually active, its not smart to mess with your pills, trust me, I've tried. When you mess with your pills, sometimes, you'll have a two week period, depending on how long you've been on the pills. If you've been on them a long time, your body is use to your period, and it will continue on its normal week, even if it does start the week before.
While in Florida, just wear tampons, that should be fine, and it dont hurt to get in water with them, it doesnt fill them up or anything.
Hope I've helped. ]
