Confused.
So there's this guy that I've recently started liking. He's in one of my classes but we've never really talked too much or been good friends. We were more like acquaintances but then he did some stuff that made me and my friend think if he could maybe like me.
Before I liked him my friend and I were in the lunch line and him and his friend come up and we all just start talking and at one point he just comes up and puts his arm around me and my friend. My friend told me later on that he didn't put his arm around her until after he put it around me and she thought that he only did that so she wouldn't feel left out or something but I don't know.
Last week, after I started liking him, I was walking to class with a friend and he was walking by himself in front of me and once my friend left to go to class he turned around and started walking backwards really slowly and started talking to me. But then one of his friends came up and they started talking so I went into class but then he comes up behind me and puts his arm around me and I put my arm around him and we hug. It was just really sweet and it totally made my day.
A few days later we were kinda talking a bit more here and there and after class I asked him for a hug and he gave me one. But then a couple days later my group of friends somehow ended up sitting with his group of friends for lunch and he was kinda rude to me. The next day I saw him before school and I waved to him but he was really awkward about it like he didn't really want to but he wanna be rude or something. In class the next day he ended up grading my quiz and since he sits right by me he just turned around to give it to me and I said thank you but he just gave me a blank look. A little while later the teacher asks him to give me a piece of paper and he just kinda throws his hand back and kinda throws it to me in a really rude way but I said thank you anyway and he didn't even say anything.
So today I was expecting the same kind of treatment from him and I wasn't even planning on talking to him because I didn't like the way he's been acting. But when me and my friend were walking over to the building our class was in I saw him standing by the door just holding it for people as if he was waiting for someone and then he looked back and saw us and he kinda straightened up a bit. We walked through the door and my friend said thank you but I didn't say anything I just kept walking and I was kinda expecting him to stay by the door but he was walking behind us and he ended up walking next to me with my friend on my other side and they started talking a bit and I just piped in here and there and when my friend left to go to class we walked the rest of the way together and we were talking and laughing and he was just being really nice to me.
I don't get it! I mean one day he's so sweet to me and the next he's like ignoring me! What's up with this?! My friend says that he could like me since guys treat girls weird sometimes when they like them but I don't know! Why is he acting this way and how can I find out about how he really feels about me?

The best way to find out how he feels is to ask him. It sounds like he does like you, but he probably thought he was coming on too strong, too soon, which caused him to back off a bit. He might have been a bit embarrassed about it, especially if this only happened within a few days. Give it time, and see what happens. But like I said, if he keeps acting strangely, ask him what's up.

the only way to know is to ask him yourself from what youve said i think he likes you but i dont think your showing him enough signs of liking him and he might of gotten confused and just backed up you need to talk to him and get things straight so you can move on with your life.
