Good Deals to Advertise

Question Posted Tuesday November 25 2008, 12:42 pm

I am looking for some good local papers to put an ad in. They do not have to be in my state. I would prefer the smaller papers, or business focused, entrepeneur focused, things like that. Also, good sources online to advertise in. I will be looking to advertise in the Classifieds. I already know about craigslist, but they are charging $25 now no matter how large the ad and the placement is not guranteed. Something like .75c per word or less in a monthly paper or even a bi-weekly paper would be cool. Thank you.

There are many, many online papers now that you can advertise in--even your local paper probably has a website that will allow you to pay for a little advertising on their website. Even my local paper has their own website--and I live in a pretty darn small place!

There are bargain hunters in various places if you look. Around her we have a Mountain Bargain Hunter. I live in the mountains, of course, so your local classifieds paper is probably not called that. ;) Next time you go into a convenient store look around for a few papers they may be selling. They usually range from $.75 to $2.00 per paper, depending on the size and what it entails. From there you can call the number and see about the cost of advertising.

We also have trade-n-sell papers for KY, WV, and OH. Here is the link to that:

It may be more beneficial to start a website for your product or what not and try to get the link around the Internet. Even things like Advicenators or Yahoo! Answers you could post your link within an answer if it relates (not sure what you're advertising so I'm not sure if it would relate to anything here).

It may also be helpful to get some business cards made about the product and place them in certain locations.

Since I'm not in your area (and actually have NO idea WHERE you may even be located--you could even be from India for all I know) it is really difficult to get you specific names of local papers. If you know the local paper's name please search it (with your location) into Google to see if they offer an online source with online advertising opportunities.

You might even be able to look at things like Yahoo! Classifieds or even the featured offered on MySpace for classifieds. I even searched for "local paper of [STATE]" and got links to specific papers. Those would be pretty good, especially since I'm sure you could have an ad published online AND/OR the actual paper.

I hope you find all the resources you need. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask me! :)
