17/f
So I might not have the best sleeping schedule but still - this has happened to me A LOT and I'm curious if this is even normal. I go to sleep and people will come in my room, a parent or a sibling, and find me wide awake. I'll see them come in - as if my eyes were already open - but I have no reelection of what I had been doing before they came. They tell me my eyes were wide open [I'm a HEAVY SLEEPER TOO - so I didn't wake up from them just opening the door] - From not feeling well I was awake until 6am. At 8 am my mom came in my room and I "sort of" remember her talking to me - the memory is really foggy. But apparently I had been sitting up wide awake when she came in!!
I know I'm always tired and I wonder if I'm actually not sleeping at night - like I'm awake but. . sleeping? I'm not sure >.< Help!

Sonic_Syndicate answered Monday November 17 2008, 7:03 am: There are four stages of sleep, STAGE ONE (I know, what an original name) is where you are dozing off and barely sleeping, almost very wide awake and you can be awoken easily. STAGE TWO is where you are sleeping, and just beginning to go in the REM stage of sleep, (RESTLESS EYE MOVEMENT) then in stage three, you are in the REM stage. You are paralyzed and cannot move at all, except for your eyes. A dream happens in this stage every 90 minutes and the dreams can be about anything from 5-40 minutes long. Maybe you just have really weird dreams. In stage four, you beginning to go back to stage one where you are getting to the sleep stage but still awake. I took a lesson on psychology in highschool and I learned to record my dreams. So set a notebook by your bed, and when you wake up in the morning don't get out of bed really quickly, the reason being is because you will forget the dream, or the interactions you had with your family during the night. Lay in bed and rethink the dream, then write it all down. We as human beings lead a very hectic lifestyle, we forget dreams, and what happens on in the night because we have to think of all the other things that need to be done before the day begins (brush teeth, use bathroom, ect), after a couple of dreams recorded, talk to your mom, and go to the doctor if you are concerned about the type of dreams you are having. Hopefully it gets better for you. I know one thing, you don't have narcopalsy, so you're at least safe from that. Let me know what you find out and I'll give you further advice from there. :) [ Sonic_Syndicate's advice column | Ask Sonic_Syndicate A Question ]
