late period...

Question Posted Sunday November 9 2008, 2:46 pm

my name is Gina and I am 15 years old. this is kind of a dumb question but i am just wondering what the cause of this is. I always mark on my calendar when I have my period so that I'm ready when i have the next one and most of the time, its right on that day or a day after it. well this week my period is 5 days late! it has never been this late before and i have NEVER had sex. i've had all the signs of a period coming but my question is..are periods normally this late or is there something wrong with me?

ah hun there are a ton of reasons for a late period. i used to have regular periods and after i had my son. sometimes i go 4 months with out getting my period and they arn't sure why besides stress. talk to your doctor if you are worried about it. (or your mother)

it could be for many reasons including stress, being on a certain meds, illness's, being under/over weight, pregnancy
(even if you've never had sex if sperm gets anywhere near your vagina, it can happen, ... Its a possibility)

Dear Gina,
I don't believe you have a thing to worry about! I understand that your periods generally come at regular intervals, but it's also normal for a girl your age not to be very regular for a couple of years. If you're really concerned about it, I would suggest talking to someone like your mom or the school nurse. Best wishes, and good luck!
