i really want a boyfriend, but i have bad anxiety

Question Posted Wednesday October 29 2008, 9:07 pm

i really want a boyfriend, but i have bad anxiety
im 17, f. and never really had a boyfriend except in elementry school.. i had 2 and i was really close with them.

i usually make guys make the first move. i would if i knew 100% that they wouldn't reject me.

i'm really, really scared of rejection. my fear kinda puts me in a box, that lets no one in.

if i find out a guy i like, likes me. i ignore him. sometimes i tend to act like a b**** to him.

but that's only because of my box.

im not just afraid of rejection, im also afraid of embarassing myself. i dont have high self esteem. and most people see me differet than the way i see me- i see myself ugly..

the only reason i had 2 boyfriends in elementry school was because we always faught all the time and they kind of broke the barrier when making up..

and highschools so different, its so hard. i cant really read guys like i use to be able to. theyre so mature and everything..haha.

if he told me i was pretty, it makes it alot easier for me.

anyways, there is a guy i like right now.
he's cute, smart, etc.. haha.
he's also nice, and he the romantic type, & is chivarous..

he also flirts with almost every girl, and cares about looks..

right now we're friends..

please help, i dont want to be alone in my box forever :[

WoAaaaaaa! i was the exact same as you girl. i had trust issues, everytime i heard someone liked me i would get freaked out and push them away. people always said i was so gorgeous and they didn't believe me when i said i never had a boyfriend before! the thing i realized is you have to take chances. i've been told that guys are intimidated by me because they feel that i will reject them because they think they're not good enough for me. you just have to learn to be friendly! [: smile alot, be outgoing and if you want something, go for it. i was sick of always being lonley, and the only one out of my friends that never had a boyfriend. i've completely changed myself over the past two years and i love who i am now. i still don't go telling guys my feelings and i definately don't ask them out but when i'm texting them i'll say little things that will make them think, make them wonder! i drops hints that will let them know im interested. talk to this guy, don't be worried. maybe go with a group of your girlies and you wont be as scared! sometimes you have to be the one to make the first move, and if you want something bad enough you'll go for it! if you need anything else let me know, i know exactly what you're going through. i know you can do it girl ♥ LU
