EMT/Paramedic

Question Posted Monday October 20 2008, 10:44 pm

How do you become an EMT. Is it necessary to complete an Associates or is it more like a certificate? Links with explanation would be appreciated.

No associates degree needed. Classes for
EMT take a semester if taken at a school.
If you pass the class you take a state
certification test and if you pass that,
they send you your certificate!

I don't have any links, this is from experience.
Time it takes and all that is dependent on the state you live in.

Paramedic takes longer to get, usually a year,
and is more intense study. A LOT to learn in a
year. After you pass the class, its the same
as EMT. you have to pass the state boards test.

I might add the state tests are both written and
clinical. :)
