ipod won't let me sync new songs

Question Posted Monday October 13 2008, 11:23 pm

Recently i had computer problems and basically my dad wiped my computer clean and i have a new hard drive (btw i want to kill my father for this!)

I had to download itunes back onto this computer and was able to sign back into my account, but all the songs from my ipod won't transfer into my library. That doesn't bother me, but it will not let me sync new songs onto my ipod.

When I try to sync it says I can erase the contents of my ipod and sync whats in the library (less then half of my songs), or transfer purchases from my ipod to the library. I choose the second chose and then it tells me I need to authorize my computer. I've authorized it ten times and it tells me that this computer has already been authorized. I don't know what to do! I'd try talking to itunes customer service, but I've dealt with them before and its a big hassle.

Can anyone help?

Also, disable automatic updating on your iPod [its one of the options when you plug your iPod into iTunes]. You'll have to add new songs manually - drag and drop - but it's much easier in my opinion, and you can add music from any computer this way.

What I had to do was reset my Ipod.
