You don't need to be worried. The coldsore virus is very common, many people have it. If your boyfriend had a coldsore when you kissed him, had just had or was about to get one, then you may have caught it from him. However, you could just have had the virus anyway and never experienced an outbreak.

As long as there is no mouth-to-genital contact (i.e. oral sex) while you have the coldsore, then you have nothing to worry about. Simply having the coldsore virus won't give you genital herpes. If your boyfriend were to perform oral sex on you while he had a coldsore then obviously you would be at risk. The same goes for you, don't go anywhere near anyone's genitals with your mouth until the coldsore is fully cleared up.

There are several over-the-counter remidies for coldsores, including creams designed to be applied as soon as you feel a coldsore coming on in order to prevent it. Using such creams and ointments should help clear it up quicker and prevent them from happening in future.

there are different kinds of herpes. if you have oral herpes then no you can't get it on your vagina, unless you have sex (possibility). cold sores will go away in a few days- week. people get them randomly even when they don't kiss someone so relax, you'll be fine.
