group therapy

Question Posted Thursday September 11 2008, 7:19 pm

okay so im being forced join this intensive outpatient therapy shit and i really really dont want to go. so i have to go to group therapy for three hours, four days a week. they gave me all this information about it and papers i had to fill out and i was reading some one of them and it said that i didnt HAVE to do it if i didnt want to. i want to take that opportunity and tell them that i dont have to do it but i dont want to be wrong! im only a minor (im 14) so does that mean that if i dont want to participate i dont have to? even though my parents are making me?

thanks in advance :)

If the papers say you dont have to, then the papers are right. Because legally, you do have the right to deny therapy if its not medically needed. And they only say that because they can't really force people into therapy, they have to go willingly. Now if your parents are forcing you to go, then thats up to your parents. Since your a minor, you really can't do anything about it if you can't convince your parents.

Which really gives you three choices, convince your parents you dont need/want to go, go and try not to participate, or go and cooperate and get through it like a normal person. Its all up to you. Cause one choice may lead to another and you might end up trying the first one and wind up ending with the last one. You never know. But its all up to you to do something about it.
