I have a lisp with the s and ch and sh but not the one where you make the s's sound th's but it sounds wierd when i talk like job, shopping and stuff like that and people at school laugh at me and i dont know how to make it go away on my own without going to somebody. it's so embarrasing but it's not really with the s as much as it is with the ch and sh and j. i want to get rid of it my own without going somewhere. and i was also wondering if guys would still like me and want to go out with me even though i talk like this? please help thanks.

DJzmAgUy426 answered Thursday September 4 2008, 11:34 pm: I have a lisp too. Most of my s's sound like z's or th's. It's mainly words that END with s that I try to avoid saying. Anyway, it used to be really bad when I was a kid, but my parents and younger brother would make fun of me EVERY SINGLE DAY for it. They would embarrass me in front of everyone. Sometimes my dad would even hit me for it, as if it is a choice of mine to speak like this! Anyway, believe it or not, it's hardly noticeable now, except for to me of course, so it CAN actually get better. Tons of guys like me, and not one has ever mentioned it, much less made fun of me for it. All you have to do is practice. My teacher once told me lisps are a result of some sort of tongue disability, so believe it or not, you should pay attention to how people move their lips and tongue. Most importantly, it's all about the attitude. If you ignore it, everyone else follows, so pretend you don't give a crap, even if you do. Luck <3.
