If you have really long, thick hair, get the 1.5"

Otherwise, a smaller size will be easier to manipulate, and will be lighter too. A smaller iron can also curl [if you get the hang of it] and it's easier to straighten bangs & short pieces.


So unless your hair is like, past your elbow, a smaller iron will probably be fine.
