Original 2GB iPod nano holding more than 500 songs? Is it possible?

Question Posted Wednesday June 17 2009, 10:35 pm

i have the original iPod nano with 2gb, and i thought that you could only have 500 songs on it, but i have 506 songs on it now, with album art, so i was wondering if you knew why.

Every song is a different size, depending on its length (and other things I'm not quite sure of.) This means that a 2GB nano (which I also have, by the way!) can hold approximately 500 songs, depending on how big the songs are. Also, if you have tons of playlists or pictures, there's less room for songs.

the 500 song max, is like an average. Your 506 songs with album art havnt exceeded the 2gb yet. When you open i-tunes, with your ipod plugged in, theres a bar at the bottom, telling you how much of the memory you have used, and how much you have left. Every song varies in size, so some may take up more space than others.

The 500+ songs on there didn't yet exceed 2 gb. Not sure how to work an iPod, but you go into your settings -> memory, and check how much space you have, and how much you have left. You can put in 800 songs, if they're short or zipped/compressed files.
