Keep in mind that anything can represent anything. You COULD say the fire represents Gui Montag's burning guilt, since for the greater part of his life he helped contribute to the problem instead of fixing it. There are no "right" or "wrong" answers, really, so long as you can explain yourself and support your arguement well. Teachers tend to give these types of questions not to see if students are paying attention (Fact-checking), but more to test their ability to pick out symbolism and explain it rationally (Critical thinking). This is especially true in AP/Honors classes. [ Comrade's advice column | Ask Comrade A Question ]
es answered Thursday August 28 2008, 4:34 pm: the fire color itself doesn't symbolize anything. the fire does represent the burning of knowledge in order to promote/keep ignorance about the past and history this way people don't rebel against the laws made now. it's more symbolic that the books are burning than anything else because it's the books that have history in them and that's whats keeping the people ignorant.
if you have any more questions, message me or my s/n is xxes25
