Miley Ray Cyrus was born on November 23, 1992 in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Her parents are Leticia 'Tish' Cyrus and Billy Ray Cyrus.
She actually was born named Destiny Hope Cyrus. She changed her name to Miley because when she was a little girl her father nicknamed her Smiley Miley. Her called her this because she smiled a lot and he felt it was a cute nickname.
She changed her middle name to "Ray" after her father, who is actually a famous country singer himself. She told ET! that she changed her middle name to "Ray" simply because she wanted to be like her father.
The only person that still refers to her as Destiny is her grandmother, and Miley Cyrus really doesn't mind at all; although, she does prefer to be called Miley.
