contact lenses IM SCARED

Question Posted Saturday August 23 2008, 5:42 pm

Anyone know EASY WAYS to apply contact lenses?
I've tried to place them on the bottom of my eye with my head tilted up. But everytime I try to put them on my eye, it never sticks on, like I fit it wrong.

The main problem is that when I apply it to my eye, it still stays on my finger and won't stick to my eye.

im scared that i might POKE my eye. so i take it out immediately and start whining and crying. im just tooo SCARED!! anyone feels the same?

advice please im a beginner its my first time trying to put them on . im a wimp

Hi, I've been wearing contacts for a really long time so I hope I can help a bit.

First, go read the stuff on this website just to make sure you've heard it all:

Okay, I used to have the problem where it stuck to my finger no matter what I did. Then, I realized it was because my finger was too wet from the contact. When I put my contacts in, I make sure it's right side up, blahblahblah, and then I switch it to another finger that is dry. So if you are going to actually put the contact in with your pointer finger, get it situation on your middle finger first and then switch it over. Then I can pop it in with no problems. It's kind of because the contact will stay in a moist spot- so you have to make sure your eye is more moist than your finger. Otherwise, it will juts stick to your finger.

When I put my contacts in, I hold my eye open as wide as I can, look forward into a mirror, and pop the contact right in. Honestly, in seven years of wearing contacts, I have never actually poked my eye while putting them in (and I'm a klutz), so don't worry about that so much :)

Then, once the contact sticks to my eyes, I keep holding my eyelids back while I shift my eyes side to side, up and down, and I roll them around a bit. This helps me get the air bubbles out. After about five seconds of that, shut your eye. It almost always hurts when I shut my eyes, so don't freak out if it does for a little while. It goes away in like less than a minute. Your eyes will probably water a little bit. If your eye keeps hurting after that for like five minutes or more, take the contact out and try again.

If you need any more help, just inbox me :)

Make sure you have it on the right side. And that its centered. Cant really explain it. I just open my eye, put it in and then blink. If you need me to demonstrate it then i guess im me in msn or something.
