Removing name from google search.

Question Posted Saturday August 16 2008, 12:36 am

I did a random google search of my name, and found a couple of links with some personal information, including a really embarrassing poem i posted 7 years ago. There are a few other sites too, but nothing this embarrassing.

Is there anything I can do to get my name removed from a google search, or at least that particular link (poem)?? Potential employers, people I'm interested in..could easily get information about me- VERY annoying.

Say you posted something on Xanga.. You'd have to delete the post or close down your account. So, if you can, close down the accounts that you had with those particular websites, because if a webpage doesn't exist, then it won't show up on engine searches.

You could try contacting the webmasters of the sites in question. Say that you would appreciate it if they would remove the content or, at the very least, replace your name with "anonymous."

Or you could pay to have your reputation 'cleaned up'. There's an article on newsweek ([Link](Mouse over link to see full location)) that I think should help you out.
