manic panic hair dye
not sure if this is the right catagory but has anyone with dark hair used manic panic hair dye without bleaching their hair first? i was wondering how it might turn out if i tried dying my hair blue without bleaching. my hair is medium brown. someone on the website has and it turned out pretty blue but i'm still not sure, also where can i buy it?

I have died my hair with manic panic without bleaching first and I also have dark hair. It depends on the color you use how it will turn out but usually it's not too bad. Putting blue over medium brown hair will just tint it blue. The darker your hair, the less it will tint. For example, if you had black hair, it would just have a bluish shine. If you had blond hair, it would be pretty vibrant. Since you have somwhere in between, it will be blue but not true color. AND... I agree with the other person, manic panic is not really the best dye out there, and after many a trial and error, my favorite is called "Color Feind" semi perm dye from hot topic.

Probably wouldn't work very well.
If you want a vibrant color (or for it to actually look like the color I'm assuming you want) you'll have to bleach.
Especially on brown hair.
I mean, you could try it. But it might not turn out how you want.
On brown hair, the blue probably won't turn out too well.
Also,
I do not recommend Manic Panic.
It's crap.
Comes out bright, if you bleach.
But fades /extremely/ fast.
If you want it for a short amount of time, I recommend it.
But if you want a bright, long-lasting unnatural color I recommend Special Effects.
You can buy Special Effects anywhere on the internet, and MAYBE at Hot Topic.
Same with Manic Panic, but I highly highly recommend Special Effects over Manic Panic.

But I still recommend you do Special Effects and bleach your hair.
It'd turn out much brighter, it'd be long-lasting, and Special Effects is a fantastic dye.
And like Manic Panic it's a vegan dye, so the actual dying doesn't damage your hair.
So either one you choose, it won't damage your hair.
