Well..I don't know how to color them but I do know how to make them torn and distressed looking.

(Although this is a very time consuming way of doing it, I find that it works the best):

1) Place a block of wood (or some other solid surface that you don't mind possibly damaging) within the pant leg or denim region you want to distress.

2) Get a nail file. Rub horizontally against the area of the jean that you want to distress. Rub vigorously if you want to create visible distress (which i'm sure you want to do) You will begin to see that the jean is getting weaker and more 'distressed'. At this time, pull the jean apart from top of the distressed part and at the bottom to create that stringy look. Do this in as many spots that you want.

--Now for the bleach part, (if desired):
1) Get a plastic cup and pour bleach in it (I prefer Clorox)
2) Get a Q-Tip
3) Put your jeans on the clothes line.
4) Dip the Q-Tip in the bleach and splash the jeans wherever you want bleach to appear. You need to do this a few times to make it visible.

Again, I apologize that I do not know how to make them colored...but I do think this is a kick-arse alternative :)

P.S. - If you figure it out, could you let me know by leaving a message in my inbox? thank you so much..
