By the way, the strips are gel. Well, they are plastic but there is the gel on them (think of when you spread jam on toast).
Also, be careful if you have sensitive teeth. If you do, then there's no use getting the strips because they really hurt your teeth. It feels like you're holding your teeth in ice cream or something lol.

You can buy the 5 minute a day whitening strips which gradually whiten over about two months, however I think they cost more than $30. I would suggest the one week whitening strips. You have to wear the strips for 30 minutes two times a day, and there is a visible difference within about three days. The one week strips cost about $30. Crest might also have a two week whitening kit, which is the same as the one week, just a longer period of time, but I'm not sure how much they cost.
