i'd advice getting a "tiny default" it squishes everything together mostly && to put a background of your taste i'd say upload it to a photobucket or any image provider,find the "url" on the background code && replace it with the "url" of your desired picture.

im not sure if this will help you buttt,
what i did to mine was make the number of pixels between writing smaller. im not sure how to explain it but if you find a site with a tutorial like that, i think it'll help.
