Who should I cosplay as?!
okay so I need cosplay ideas, I might be going to Youmacon this year and Im drawing blanks, I need something thats not too complicated.. I can sew, but I'd be a tight budget either way.

I'm 17 with an average build, the tricky part is my curly hair... I would really prefer not to mess with my hair, but most characters have straight hair.
I was thinking Hana from fruits basket...but thats a bit toooo simple, I do want to do something fun!

First off, you can ALWAYS look into some wigs to use for the cosplay. Many people invest in a wig or two for certain anime characters, as they do tend to have pink or blue hair :) So, that is always an option, especially that you can find outrageous colored wigs for fairly cheap now.
As for specific anime characters with curly hair (taken from various websites for wide selection):
Molly and Mimette from Sailor Moon
Mihoshi from Tenchi Muyo
Hinaichigo, Shinku, and Kanaria from Rozen Maiden
Mitsuki and Full Moon from Full Moon O Sagashite
Mila Rose from Bleach
Oruha from Clover

Yuzuki from Chobits
Charlotte from Golden Age
Hiro from Hidamari Sketch

...as you may have noticed, some of them have different colored hair than yours so that also may be a problem for you if you're not willing to dye yours. You can probably get your hair dyed fairly cheaply though, but in the end a good wig might be a better choice for that sort of thing.
Another suggestion from a website I saw was to have your hair braided to match that of a specific characters. SO, if you know of any characters with braids that may be a good option for you too.
