The only reason as to why an arm vibrato may be bad is because it becomes tiring quite quickly and starts to hurt after a while. However, it is one of the easiest for of vibrato to learn. I do a wrist vibrato most of the time. It's harder to learn but it's (in my opinion) the best type.

Everyone has different opinions on vibratos and feel different with every single type of vibrato. Venture into all types of vibratos and find one that you feel is the best and comes most naturally to you. If it's uncomfortable for you, don't waste your time in trying to make it comfortable because truth be told, it's not going to be as comfortable as the vibrato you felt comfortable trying.

That's not true. There are several types of vibrato: arm, hand, and finger. Professional musicians play using any of the three, and many utilize all three, depending on what they feel is necessary. For example, finger can used in higher positions when there's not much room to move the wrist or arm. I tend to use hand vibrato mostly, but I will break out the arm vibrato when I have long, sustained notes.

Keep in mind that none of the types of vibrato are "natural" though, and for many strings players it takes months to feel fully comfortable doing vibrato of any type. So really, do what you feel is best. I think it's great you want to try another type of vibrato.

I hope this gives you some insight and helps!
