15 f i am a songwriter and i have a guitar and would love to learn to play it but my fingers dont move fast enough any excersises i can try?
and any tips on learning to play guitar i cant take classes they are expensive. any videos online would be good too. if you play guitar just plz tell me the basics of learning to play. and add anything else you think i should know thanks alot!
so you put your first finger, on the first fret, of the E string, and pluck. then put your second finger on the second fret of the E string, and pluck (keep your first finger on the first fret though) and do that untill you have done the first four frets. then move your first finger to the 5th fret, and your second to the 6th fret, and so on till you hit the bottom, keep plucking, speed up, and you will get faster in no time. hope i helped :) [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
Alypink answered Monday July 28 2008, 8:09 am: Hi!!!
You sound just like me! (yes, you do hehe)
well, not now but a few months before I had your same concern. Why? Well here is the thing:
I used to take guitar lessons in 5th grade (and i'm going to 10th grade now) but I forgot everything, (well i remembered a few things but not much) so I had to start from scratch (which is you). anyways I went on the magical world of the internet hehe and I got myself a guitar chords directory and saved it and I went on youtube learned some tips and stuff (you can learn a few stuff in youtube) and started playing.
So I LEARNED THE BASICS! yay! and you can too! now all I have to do is keep on learning some more difficult stuff. Ok piece of advice: DON'T GIVE UP! You are probably thinking:"No, i wont" yeah yeah you get tired and maybe even bored given that sometimes it takes time to learn a few stuff, and when you don't get it fast you get frustrated. So having said that here is what i recommend:
1. USE THE INTERNET (it's not only for myspace) go to sites like e-chords, guitarworld, youtube, guitarchordsmagic, and chordbook (chordbook is very good cause it actually plays the chords for you so save it in your favorites so everytime you learn a chord you go there to see how it's supposed to sound, etc... (you will stumble across more sites when you go to these)
2. watch people playing guitar. If you don't know anyone or don't have the time go to youtube (the answer to your prayers hehe) and watch people who play guitar to learn techniques and see how they do it (trust me it works). i recommend people like: brinicole22, savannah 7448, miaarose etc...
3. Learn like 3 chords and pratice them. OK THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT ONE: don't try to learn like a thousand chords a day cause you think you will learn faster. THE TRUTH IS YOU WONT. Take it easy you will learn faster if you take it like 1, 2, or even 3 chords a day. And pratice changing them like if you are in G, change to D and pratice so you can get faster. Oh and this will make it more difficult to forget the chords.
4. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!!!!!!
haha yeah i know you've heard this but you really need to practice a lot so you can master this (I won't give you a speech on this)
5. DON'T GIVE UP
I already told you this but I'm telling you again cause it's really important so please don't give up.
Ok im almost finished but first:
WORD OF INSPIRATION: If you dedicate time to this and you really want it and you practice a lot and don't give up, you can learn the basics in like a month or less. To tell you the absolute truth I learned like in a week and a half to learn the basics (specially a week). yep I did so you can learn fast just be sure to learn it well so you won't forget it. AND REMEMBER everyone learns at a different pace so don't get frustrated if you don't learn that fast. Oh and one last thing, set goals for you like say for tommorow I want to learn this and work hard towards that and reward yourself if you do it (that's what I did :-)
SO you can ask me if you have any other question!
I'D love to help you ! there weren't many people on the internet available to help so i know what it's like.
so to you it's different i will help hehehe.
so i hope the best for you!
toodles
