MistressSlipknot answered Wednesday July 16 2008, 10:03 pm: I already got my tongue pierced, and had it in for 2 or 3 years before taking it out. When I went to get my tongue pierced, I was scared too (I was barely 17 when I got mine), so I asked the guy that was piercing my tongue if it would hurt. It does hurt, but not that bad. I didn't even cry, although my eyes watered, but I wasn't screaming in pain with tears coming down my face. And trust me, I'm HORRIBLE with pain. I know some people take pain differently, but just telling you that I was just fine. And yes, you're right about not being able to talk for awhile, same with eating solid foods. So, you may want to prepare for that lol
Although, I ate solid foods anyways, just tried to be careful. People do weird things with their tongue when eating (I figured that one out the hard way :P). But you should be fine. I heard drinking pineapple juice helps the swelling in your tongue and helps the healing process, but I also heard it was not that great tasting, and that it goes bad easily. But the healing process should take 2-3 weeks, maybe more. [ MistressSlipknot's advice column | Ask MistressSlipknot A Question ]

so you can pretty much talk.
you might get a blister on the roof of your mouth at first because of the ball.
and you shouldnt eat.
and i'm sure after while when you eat spicy foods it wont burn because you won't have any scabs or anything.
