Your mother should really go back to the doctor's office soon, for many reasons regarding her own health.

Home pregnancy tests are RARELY ever wrong when they show up positive. There are so few cases of a home pregnancy test showing up positive but being wrong (although, many of them do show negative during a pregnancy). Reasons for them showing up positive, but the woman NOT being pregnant, would be:

1. A tumor of the placenta with death of the fetus
2. Ovarian cancer (and other types of cancer in some cases)
3. Blood or protein in the urine, which can interfere with the result
4. Use of medications to prevent seizures, drugs to treat Parkinson's syndrome, or phenothiazine drugs, such as chlorpromazine, by the mother

Although blood tests are about 99% accurate, there is always that 1% of complete inaccuracy. Some reasons why a doctor's blood test for pregnancy would show negative while a home pregnancy shows positive would be:

1. Ectopic pregnancy (meaning the fetus is growing inside of a fallopian tube)
2. A very recent miscarriage or abortion
3. Human error (lab mix-up with the drawn blood)

Your mother may be having serious complications that she is not aware of. If she is having an ectopic pregnancy, her tubes can rupture, leading to the death of her and the unborn child. As you know, cancer is highly dangerous, and blood in the urine is a sign of something very serious going on that needs to be treated. What I'm trying to say is this is NOT common or normal and she definately needs to see a doctor as soon as possible about it.

She probably should request that the doctor does an ultrasound, that way they can tell if there IS a baby inside of her or not or if she has any tumors that may be interfering with the pregnancy results. She needs to tell the doctor her signs/symptoms--that she has felt fluttering, her abdomen is enlarging, and that she has been pregnant before and feels that she is pregnant from her usual signs in previous pregnancies.

Please let your mother know that seeing a doctor is highly suggested for her own safety. Many doctors do not do further testing after a blood test shows negative but this really sounds like she needs to be seen again.

I wish your mother well and pray that all is okay with her health. I hope I've helped you out in finding information for her about her pregnant/not pregnant results.

I guess you should trust the doctor, but usually pregnancy isn't noticed right away. Try going to another doctor in a week or two, and if that one says she isn't, then she most likely isn't. Doctors know what they are talking about, and pregnancy tests aren't 100% accurate.

Sometimes there are "false pregnancies", but if she has her period, she is not pregnant.

Kittzen's talking,
i can't tell you if she's pregant or not, what i beleve she should do is go to a different doctor and see if he tells her the same thing. also she should take another test. she might be going throug a false pregencey you never know. she should wait and see if her period comes too. all signs will tell her if she is if it is a false pregencey.
Best wishes,
Kittzen
