I can sooo relate to this. I was the biggest tomboy, EVER! But now I shop at Hollister & Abercrombie all the time. :)
..The only question is: what's stopping you? :)
All of those stores have clothes that are adorable, and you'll definitely get compliments on your new "fashion".
:) Best of luckkkk ]
Introduce new clothing to your wardrobe gradually.
I used to be like you, I'd throw on clothes and not care how I looked at all. Now I'm a lot more aware about how I look, and I look at shopping/getting dressed as a fun thing to do. At least sometimes, I don't get too obsessive about it, and occassionally I'm guilty of wearing a shirt I find crumped on the floor, haha.
Anyways. Try pairing a cute tank top or shirt with jeans you already have. You'll be in your old jeans, so you won't be stepping completely out of your comfort zone. Also, you don't have to go all-out girly, there's more to being "girly" than the color pink or a totally new closet.
Something as simple as a more fitted shirt can change your look, too. Especially if you're currently living in loose t-shirts.

Layering is also relatively simple, and adds a splash of color.
Virtually every store you walk into these days sells lacy camis, tank tops, you name it. If you're not so sure about them, Kohl's sells them VERY cheaply, or go for clearance.

It may sound ridiculous, but consider getting a few cute bra and underwear sets. What you wear underneath can really make a difference. Other things to consider: a subtle change in your hairstyle (like an off-center part), new perfume, exfoliating for softer skin, a new necklace.
Good luck with your new style!
