An STD is a Sexually Transmitted Disease. So thats like if you have sex with someone, you can pass on a genital disease, like how you could pass a cold or flu by kissing. So sexual contact passes that, got it? Some are permanent, some can be cured.
Herpes is an STD. Genital herpes is incurable and lifelong. Basically its red sores on your privates. You can also get herpes on your mouth, which is a coldsore, which is curable.
