how to throw a good party?

I'm throwing a party in July and I want it to be good, not one of those parties where everyone just stands around awkwardly and nobody dances.
Something more like a skins party (: (y'know, more wild, a lot of people)
Basically, how do I get a lot of people to come?
What should I do to give it a better party atmosphere -
Music?
Lights?
What can I do to get everyone mingling and dancing and acting more crazy?

Well I would suggest not having a dress code because not everyone will do it and they will feel awkard..
But yeah have it at like a community center or someplace, get a dj and make sure hes good and loud, and light show and fog would be good. && if people drink then get alcohol.

If you just want a party at your place on a budget then I would have it in your basement or someplace where you can clear everything out. Talk to you parents and make sure they can just leave you alone. Tell EVERYONE the time and place (people love parties). && make lots and lots of mix cd's; dont put any slow songs on there. but alot of techno and rap and like dance songs... Buy like a black night and turn the lights off. && serve water or like juice so people can drink when they need a break from dancing. Let them stay til like whenever your parents say..

if you have myspace of facebook send an ivitation to your friends. you dont ahve to invite your close friends but just fun crazy people in general have all types of music becuase people have differnet prefences since you have a hippy theme you should play hippy music. if its outside get a tent and put lights in the tent. strobe lights are always a hit at partys. im guessing you dont want alchohol. but that would definelty make things wild and crazy
