I am 14/f and i have a really irregular period and i want to get birth control and i want to know the one everyone would reccomend to have a normal, short period. I also need tips to convince my mom to get me it, so that would be helpful. THANK YOUU!
Convincing your mom? Have a good mother/daughter talk. Explain that your periods are irregular, and you'd like them evened out a bit more. Reassure her that you're not sexually active [but don't lie to her, either] but the other benefits of the pill would be very helpful to you. If you plan on BECOMING sexually active [and you're comfortable with your mom knowing] another point could be that you want to get on the pill now, so that you're protected in the future.
Best of luck.
Angie1626 answered Tuesday June 10 2008, 11:22 pm: im 15 and have been taking seasonale/seasonique (pretty much same thing) for years. you take the pill once a day, the same time every day, for 3 months. then you have a week long period. so instead of 12 a year, you only have 4. my periods are really bad and painful, so i actually skip the week i am supposed to have my period and just go to the next pack. so, i havent had one for a very long time =] i LOVE it. but you should definitely talk to your doctor before you start on a bc pill..almost every one makes you gain a few pounds. Tell your mom that if you continue to have your irregular periods, it will mess up your plans or possibly keep you from going to school if they are bad. tell her you've researched a lot and found that although there are a few tiny risks, it is safe. just tell her the truth and bug her until she gives in! :] [ Angie1626's advice column | Ask Angie1626 A Question ]
