Learner's Permit

Question Posted Saturday June 7 2008, 3:51 pm

What age do you have to be in Massachusetts to get your permit? Then what age is it that you get your actual license?
I've heard that they're changing the driving age, and I'm just confused as to what it is now.
I've already tried Google by the way and I got a couple different ages so I was wondering if anybody knew for sure...

The day you turn sixteen, you can get your permit.
184 days after you get your permit, you can get your license IF:
- Your record is clean.
- You have done 12 hours of driving time with an instructor
- You've done 40 hours of supervised driving with your parents, or another adult 21 or over, license for at leasat a year.

There's a couple other things too.
Your best bet is to ask for a driving manual the day you go to get your permit. Actually you should have one already so you can study for the test! But all the information about permits and JOL's is in there.

Call your local DMV...like any other person would.

-Hows that being rude...its common sense...instead of asking..and looking it up..call your DMV for answers.
