yes i understand exactly wat you mean because i have two computers, both vista, and the one that is messed up doesnt have the two boxes. it only has one. and it wont change when i try to. i dont know if i have a warrenty or not. cant i jus buy one myselff?

yes you can but then youll get change or installatino of video card, ask about prices cause its also expensive video card, maybe its better to buy extensive warranty for your computer with hp so they can fix it there here extension its like 100 dollars so it was way better than buying video card and having someone put in the computer :)
