I have a lot of stuff shared with other users of this laptop, so i have a lot of crap music i do not like. How do I delete songs on my ipod, and how do i make sure nothing i dont want gets synced into my ipod?

Hook the ipod up to itunes, then go to the ipod menu page. Then below the bar marking how full it is, there should be 4 options what to do, select to sync only the checked music. Uncheck the ones you dont want on the ipod. Press apply. ]
go to the ipod preferences in itunes look for the option use as digital drive or disk drive i cant remember then theres an option that say manually transfer music and photos, .by default ipod has the automatically transfer music from music library ..so that is why :) ]
Go on File > New Playlist
Call it something like ''yournamehere's playlist''
Put all the songs you want on it.
Connect your iPod and in the ''music'' tab choose ''selected playlists'' and then choose yours with your music. Sync the iPod and then all your music will be on it.
Ask other members of your family to make their own playlists with their music.
Easy as that :)
