this question is directed towards people on the Depo Provera birth control shot or people who are very knowledgeable about it. 16/f i have been on the shot for about two months, and everything that i've read about it said that a condom is not necessary while taking the shot, so recently, i haven't been using one. is this unwise? ALSO, my boyfriend and had sex and then i went upstairs and i was bleeding A LOT! it could just be that he ripped me a bit, but if it was spotting, i wanted to know if you have sex while your spotting on the pill can you get pregnant? i think not but i just wanted to be sure. thank you so much,
Depo provera is said to be 99% effective. There is always that 1% chance you could possibly become pregnant. I don't know who told you that a condom is not necessary a condom is ALWAYS necessary and don't ever forget that. Depo Provera does not protect you again STD (Sexual transmitted disease)I would highly recommend you use a condom while having sex with your partner. The bleeding you have could be spotting which is very normal while on depo provera. If you are bleeding heavily it is possible that your boyfriend may be thrusting to roughly and may have ripped your hymen but if that is the case that will heal.
Cmilner1607 answered Tuesday May 27 2008, 3:50 am: i'm not sure about the pill thing, but if you stop taking it it won't work, even if you keep changing the cycle of it. also, you can get pregnant, ANYTIME. whether you're spotting, on your period or off. anytime. use protection, and make sure you regularly take the shot and pills when you are prescribed to.
