my DVD player ok i think my dvd player just broke. i was going to play a movie but i already had a disk in there. so i turned the dvd player on, pressed "open" and it says on the dvd player in bright green letters "OPEN" like it should but...it never did open. it just like has stayed to "OPEN" and i tried turning it off and it wont work and i tried pressing "stop" and nothing works. before when i was listening to it it sounded like it was trying to do something but now it isnt.
my mom told me to un-plug it and plug it in again but it didnt work.
anyone know whats wrong with it or what i can do? it's holding my dvd hostage.

Next to the DVD tray there may be a small hole. If there is, sticking a straightened paper clip in it and pushing (with some force) will open the DVD tray. Here's a picture:

Nearly all PC CD/DVD drives have those, but not all DVD players do. If yours doesn't, you can take it somewhere to be fixed or you can try to pry open the DVD tray. I would personally not try to force it unless the player is out of warantee. There is a significant risk of breaking it.
Good luck! ]
