I really enjoy drinking lots of water and then holding it when I have to go pee. I only do it about once a week. At first I would hold it until night time then go to sleep and I would end up wetting my bed. But now I hold it until I get to the point of it nearly coming out for about 5 minutes (literally). Then I would pee in a cup to see how much that I could actually hold and how long I could hold it before I wet myself (which I have never actually let happen). When I was a little younger, I couldn't hold it for more than an hour and now I'm getting better. Is this wierd to be doing and has anyone else done it before?

It can give you a weak bladder, Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) - which can rapidly infect your kidneys and more severe problems.
You don't want this to happen to you just because of a silly habit.
It can damage your health.
Of course it's okay to hold it in a little if you can't get to a bathroom - I think everyone has been in that situation. Just don't leave it for too long, which I am afraid is what you're doing.
When you need to go, go. [ thelaura's advice column | Ask thelaura A Question ]

"Yes it can be potentially harmful to hold your pee in for a long time. First and foremost because it hurts to hold it in. At first it’s ok, but after a while it really starts to be uncomfortable. It can also unfortunately lead to urinary tract infections. There is much bacteria in your body, some of it is needed to do certain things efficiently, such as absorb food in the intestines. These helpful bacteria do not cause damage if they are in the part of your body that they belong to, but if they get to other places they can create some ill effects. Holding your urine in can lead to a urinary tract infection because of a build up of bacteria. While your stomach can handle lots of bacteria your urinary track and kidneys cannot.
Aside form urinary tract infections you can cause damage to the muscles that work when you’re holding your pee in. This concept is the same as hurting a leg muscle while running. The difference is that in one case you can’t run for a while, the other is you can’t hold your pee in for a while, so don’t hold your pee in. "
So, i wouldn't think about wether it's weird, but rather if it's hurting you. Please, consider that before you think about it being strange. [ TheAnnie's advice column | Ask TheAnnie A Question ]
