is columbia university in new york hard to get into?

or suggest any other colleges in new york.
im looking to be an elementary school teacher.

Columbia is a great school but difficult to get into. It's not as difficult as Harvard or Yale, but you should have at least a 3.98 GPA, very high test scores, an awesome essay, and be involved in activities or sports. They also like to see that you in excel in a particular area. For example, it's listed on your resume/activity list that you've won a lot of science competitions, or maybe you are on the debate team and have won a bunch of tournaments. That's what they like to see. You also need letters of recommendation.
So the answer is yes, it's not for your average person. You have to be an intelligent, well-rounded person.
