guitar gig at a coffee shop

Question Posted Sunday April 13 2008, 12:58 am

I am wanting to play guitar at some coffee house and im trying to get some songs that i can learn that do not involve vocals, so i can play them there. I'm looking for things that are maybe calm, and acoustic with 1 or 2 guitars. Maybe jack johnson or john mayer?
I want something soft and easygoing sounding (as in the feeling not the difficulty.)

Anything by Ben Harper... Honestly Jack Johnson would have been nowhere without him. There like best friends... Check him out. He's freaking amazing! ^_^

And maybe some Bob Marley- No women no cry. Its a pretty song to play even without lyrics.

And my favorite Jack Johnson song is I know.

Possibly some Dave Matthews- Gravedigger

Maybe some acoustic the White Stripes- Their acousitc stuff is amazing

Bob Dylan------- Basically all his stuff is acoustic

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club-Complicated Situation

Friend of the Devil or Ripple--Greatful Dead... Even though it's old, people go crazy on it

The Band------The Weight

4 non blonds---What's Up... Depending on whether or not your a female or not... :3

My favorite acoustic John Mayer songs are:
Why Georgia
Stop This Train
Not Myself
Comfortable

My favorite Jack Johnson songs are:
Banana Pancakes
Sitting, Waiting, Wishing
Better Together
Questions (from the Curious George soundtrack)

Those all seem like they would be a good fit for what you're looking for. And here are some random other songs that might work:
Eric Clapton - Layla (acoustic)
Hellogoodbye - Oh, It Is Love
Jackson Browne - These Days
3 Doors Down - Be Like That
Feist - 1234
Oasis - Champagne Supernova
Oasis - Lyla
Dashboard Confessional - Jamie (Weezer cover)
Weezer - Undone (the sweater song)
Beatles - Blackbird
Sondre Lerche - My Hands are Shaking

And the whole "Dan in Real Life" soundtrack is really good too. It's mostly by Sondre Lerche, and a lot of it is instrumental.

These all have vocals but they have great music too so it would still sound good if you left the vocals out.

Hope I helped!

Okay, i understand you dont really want vocals but this really pretty calm acoustic song has only 4 lines in the whole song.

try: The Price We Pay by A Day To Remember.

its a really nice song.
